Willow Tree School Sports Partnership

For over 20 years, the Willow Tree School Sport Partnership has been supporting schools in Ealing with the delivery of high quality Physical Education and school sport. The partnership is a not for profit educational organisation, hosted by Willow Tree Primary School. We are firmly committed to providing all young people with the very best education in physical literacy. Furthermore, we provide schools with high quality support to provide all young people with the opportunities to:

  • Develop lifelong participation and lead an active, healthy lifestyle
  • Realise their full potential and be the best they can be
  • Support all young people to have the physical literacy to transfer to everything they do

As an educational service provider that employs PE specialist teachers with QTS, we appreciate the flexibility required when working collaboratively with schools and have staff and delivery plans that are adaptable with school life. This supports our delivery in being integrated seamlessly into school development.

Since its inauguration in 2001, the partnership has been providing educational and strategic support to its schools. The partnership is line managed by school leaders within Willow Tree Primary School and has a steering group consisting of members of Senior Leadership Teams and PE Leads from across partner schools, as well as a representative from Active Ealing. Our support packages are updated annually in line with the changing climate in PE and School Sport, as well as ensuring we meet the needs of schools to the highest standard. Our provision is inclusive of all young people, ensuring that every child has equal opportunity to engage in PE, school sport, competition and leadership.

We are one of two host sites for the national School Games strategy in Ealing and since its introduction in 2011 have consistently achieved very highly against the expected outcomes, exceeding National KPIs for the programme.

We are also a Barclays Girls Football School Partnership, supporting the FA in their mission for girls to have equal access to football by 2024. We ensure schools are able to access all of the amazing resources and CPD available with this programme. As a lead school, we support schools in achieving equal access through girls’ only intra and inter-school competitions and signposting local pathway opportunities for girls to develop and progress in football and sport.

Many aspects of our work result in building strong relationships with local and national partners in the sporting landscape, none more so than our colleagues at Active Ealing who we have worked in partnership with since the SSP’s inception. Key strands of our work we have further developed together include school competitions, school/club links and talent identification and pathways linking in with the London Youth Games (part of the School Games).
